Bike To Work Day

It has become an annual office tradition to participate in the Bay Area Bike to Work Challenge!  This year is the best we’ve ever done in the history of ATA / VSE’s involvement with bike to work challenge!

In Alameda County (93 total teams), we placed 8th overall, and 1st for companies w/ 7-19 participant (notably, besting Bike East Bay by 500 points!).

For the Entire Bay Area (348 total teams):  34th overall and 2nd for companies w/ 7-19 participants (behind the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, who had 10 riders; we had 8).

Fall retreat at Arkin Tilt Architects:  picking pumpkins, milking goats & making goat cheese at our Vida Verde Education Center project, hanging out in the Santa Cruz Straw Bale house we designed, and taking in the beautiful scenery of the California Coast.  It was a good way to say farewell to Amanda Knowles, working ably with us for seven years.

With thanks to Tamar at Pie Ranch for the photo of all of us plus the ranch dog!

A sunny afternoon in March was the perfect time for an office field trip to see “@Large,” the Ai Weiwei exhibit on Alcatraz. We rode the noon ferry over to the island, and spent a few hours exploring the place, and viewing the exhibit.

It is the start of the holiday season, and that means we're already dreaming up ideas for Olive Party 2015.

In addition to the olives collected and cured by David, last year’s Olive Party featured live music by One Grass Two Grass Red Grass Bluegrass! Anthony Dente, one of our KDSE officemates, played fiddle and sang, while Kevin Donahue got into the action on accordion for a few songs. The band played in front of the office in a site-built straw bale band shell, while guests played games, danced along to the music, and enjoyed the delicious olives.
